Cookie Policy.
Last updated: May 13, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how BookAChauffeur uses cookies and similar technologies on bookachauffeur.ca. It complements our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Cookies remember things about your visit — like whether you've consented to analytics tracking, or where you are in a multi-step form. Some cookies are essential to make the site work; others are optional and only set if you opt in.
2. Our consent model
BookAChauffeur uses express consent. Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity load only after you click Accept on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you click Reject, neither tool loads and no analytics cookies are set on your browser. Your decision persists for one year via a bac_consent cookie. All form inputs (name, email, phone, addresses, free-text notes) are also auto-masked by Microsoft Clarity — even if you accept, what you type into the quote form is never captured in session replays or heatmaps.
To change your decision at any time, click the one-click opt-out link (sets bac_consent=rejected) or visit re-enable analytics (sets bac_consent=accepted). You can also email info@bookachauffeur.ca with the subject "Opt out of analytics", or clear cookies for bookachauffeur.ca to be re-prompted on your next visit.
3. Cookies we use
| Cookie / Tool | Type | Purpose | Set when |
|---|---|---|---|
XSRF-TOKEN / laravel_session | Essential | Required for the site and quote form to function — CSRF protection, session handling. | Always |
bac_consent | Consent | Stores your cookie-banner choice (accepted or rejected). First-party, 1-year expiry. | When you click Accept or Reject |
| Google Tag Manager (GTM) | Tag delivery | Loads our analytics tags. GTM itself is a script delivery mechanism — see GA4 and Clarity below for the underlying tools. | After Accept |
Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) | Analytics | Aggregate metrics: page views, traffic sources, conversion events. We do not run advertising remarketing on GA4 data. | After Accept |
Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk) | Session recording & heatmaps | Anonymized session replays and click heatmaps. Form fields are auto-masked — what you type into the quote form is not recorded. | After Accept |
4. What we do NOT use cookies for
- We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels (no Meta Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight, no TikTok pixel).
- We do not sell or share cookie data with advertisers.
- We do not use cookies to build profiles for marketing purposes.
- We do not use third-party cookies to track you across other websites.
5. How to opt out
Five ways:
- Click Reject on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. This sets
bac_consent=rejectedfor one year. No analytics tools will load. - One-click opt-out link — visit bookachauffeur.ca/opt-out. Same effect as clicking Reject; useful if you already accepted and want to change your mind. To reverse: bookachauffeur.ca/opt-in or clear cookies for the site.
- Email us — info@bookachauffeur.ca with subject "Opt out of analytics". We will exclude your IP from future collection.
- Block third-party cookies in your browser settings. This will prevent GA4 and Clarity from setting cookies. The quote form and the site will still work because they use first-party essential cookies.
- Use a privacy browser or extension (Brave, uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, etc.). These typically block GA4 and Clarity by default.
6. Do Not Track
Most modern browsers expose a "Do Not Track" signal that some websites honour. The major analytics platforms we use (GA4, Microsoft Clarity) do not honour DNT signals as of 2026, so DNT alone will not disable analytics on this site. If you do not want analytics or session recording, use one of the three opt-out methods in Section 5.
7. Changes to this policy
If we add new analytics tools or change how cookies are used, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date.
